Why study this course?
Our Sport Psychology, Coaching and Physical Education (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) is a four-year degree with a built-in foundation year. It is designed to help you enter higher education if you can’t meet the necessary requirements or don’t have traditional qualifications to enter the standard three-year degree.
This degree will introduce you to the field of sport science and you’ll gain the essential knowledge in subjects including sports psychology, the social impact of sport and the importance of sport on an individual’s development.

Our Sport Psychology, Coaching and Physical Education (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) course will provide you with the skills and confidence to pursue a career in sports coaching or education.
You’ll be supported throughout your studies to reach your academic and career goals by a range of services at the University. There will even be opportunities to undertake workshops in areas such as interview preparation, writing a job application and improving your essay writing skills.
Your foundation year will be shared with students from other specialisms in the School of Human Sciences, which will provide the perfect opportunity to meet other students from across the School and learn about their academic interests. This year will focus on developing your study skills as well as your fundamental scientific knowledge in the fields of biochemistry, biology, chemistry, nutrition and sports science, which you’ll find necessary for more in-depth study in your subsequent three years.

On completion of the full four-year degree you’ll receive the same award and title as students on the Sport Psychology, Coaching and Physical Education BSc (Hons).
If at the end of your foundation year you find that you’d like to change your specialism, there will be some flexibility to allow you to do this.

You’ll graduate with a full undergraduate degree with the same title and award as those who studied the three-year course.
